Somehow, Jaunty sums up quite nicely how I’m feeling about myself this week, despite having dehydration headaches from all the dry, hot weather that we’ve been having recently. I guess I’ll have to get used to drinking lots of water again! There are good things about to happen, very good things. I can feel it in my bones.
Ubuntu’s 9.04 release will be called the Jaunty Jackelope. I tend to have a good feeling about things that start with a “J”, but that’s one of my little quirks. My personal goal for Jaunty is to really get involved into bug fixing. The passed few months I’ve had users bug me about really small and annoying bugs. I really have to get my act together and do more bug squashing, but I’m not going to stress about it anymore if it doesn’t happen immediately. Everything happens in good time.
FOSSCamp
I’ve decided that I’m going to FOSSCamp. I don’t know how yet, but that’s just details
Large Hadron Collider
I came around a bit late in the countdown for the power-up of the LHC. Been counting down the days to today for about a month. Some people I know says they’ve last heard about it a few years ago but have already forgotten about it. It’s awesome that there are organisations willing to put in serious money for the advancement of science. This is the first time in ages that I’ve really been interested in physics. Been reading a lot the last week or so.
Fuel Prices
Oil has come down for the 8th day in a row. Hopefully this will have at least some small positive effect on our economy. When I’ve finished paying off my current car, I’m going to start saving up for a hybrid.
Other cool things
I’m making some progress in my personal goals, and if all goes well, I’ll have a big bunch of good news soon. I don’t want to jinx it by talking about it too early. If all goes well I’ll have a lot more to say on this in about a month from now.
