Who the fuck is Jonathan Carter?

Apologies if that sounds somewhat crude, I guess that’s just what some people might ask when they visit my site! This is work in progress…

Politics

I have quite a few libertarian tendencies, see also my post on the political compass.

I like it when people do things for themselves. Having an organised government rocks, but when people have the ability to do things without having to be babysitted, then great things can happen. That’s why I’m involved in the free software movement. It puts control into the hands of people that care about technology, not large companies who are out to make some quick bucks every few months when a new product is launched.

I believe in equality. No one should be discriminated against just because they’re different. Equally, I believe that people should be able to laugh at themselves, shows like South Park are brilliant and if we didn’t have the ability to laugh at ourselves then it couldn’t have existed.

Religion

People who are extremely religious and are willing to believe absolutely anything they are told are just annoying.  I’ve been to quite a few different churches before and have heard lots of nonsense which pretty much put me off from the idea of organised religion completely.
